LKS sustainability research team is member of several recognized associations and platforms, including the International Project Management Association (IPMA), Energy Efficiency in Buildings (E2B) of the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP); Business Eco efficiency (Founding members); Sustainable Development in Architecture and Town Planning (GIHA); Sustainability and Architecture Association (ASA). LKS services are managed with a number of world-wied recognized certifications, including ISO 9001 for Quality Management, 14001 for Environmental Management and ISO 14.006 for Eco design related to product life cycle management. LKS has recently been certificated by Environment National Ministry on the carbon footprint, CO2 compensation as Carbon Neutral Company on the period 2010 – 2015.
LKS has broad experience on sustainable development, retrofitting and energy efficiency in building. Locally, LKS has carried out the Design Guides for Energy Efficient and Sustainable Town planning as well as for Green Buildings for the Environment Agency (IHOBE), the assessment of the Technical Guidelines for Sustainable Town Planning, Sustainable Commercial Buildings, and Sustainable Building Retrofitting developed for the Environmental Department of the Government of the Basque Country (IHOBE), the ‘Eco Euskadi 2020’ Sustainable Development Strategy for the Basque Government, including RE / EE / Emission Reduction and the Development of Investment Road Map (up to 2025): Energy Efficient and Sustainable Buildings Sectors in the Basque Country.
Internationally, LKS has developed some remarkable projects, such as Consultancy Services to develop the Sustainable Energy Framework in Trinidad and Tobago, a market study for the potential of Green Buildings in Costa Rica, a Green Building Code in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, among others. LKS has been involved as well in several energy efficiency related R&D projects (FP7, H2020, FEDER) many of them focused on energy renovation of buildings: improvement of building solutions (BRESAER, REnnovates), assessment tools (CPSBuDi, E2CO2.0) and energy renovation at district level scale (CITYFIED, SmartEnCity).
