Tyndall National Institute

Tyndall National Institute is a leading European research centre in integrated ICT (Information and Communications Technology) hardware and systems. Specializing in both electronics and photonics – materials, devices, circuits and systems, Tyndall leads globally in core research areas of smart sensors and systems, optical communication systems, mixed signal and analog circuit design, microelectronic and photonic integration, semiconductor wafer fabrication and nano-materials and device processing.

Central to its mission is delivering economic impact through research excellence, working with industry and academia transforming research into products in core market areas of electronics, communications, energy, health, agri-food and the environment. With a staff of 500 Tyndall generates approximately €30m annually.

Tyndall brings its expertise to PVadapt offering direction on how wireless IoT device sensors can be retrofitted in and around BIPV infrastructure to optimise performance and enable predictive maintenance via anomaly detection. Integral to the work is also energy harvesting to extend the battery life of the devices minimizing/eliminating the need for battery replacement.
